10 Foods to Avoid During Pregnancy

During pregnancy, your immune system works differently, making you more susceptible to foodborne illnesses. Here's a comprehensive guide to foods you should avoid.

1. Raw or Undercooked Seafood

Sushi, sashimi, and raw oysters can contain harmful bacteria and parasites. Always ensure seafood is fully cooked to an internal temperature of 145°F.

2. High-Mercury Fish

Avoid shark, swordfish, king mackerel, and tilefish. These large predatory fish accumulate high levels of mercury, which can harm your baby's developing nervous system.

3. Raw or Undercooked Eggs

Skip homemade Caesar dressing, raw cookie dough, and soft-scrambled eggs. Raw eggs may contain Salmonella bacteria.
